What is Cooperative Learning?Cooperative learning is a teaching strategy wherein students with different abilities group together and share what they know about a topic. Thus, increases their knowledge about the topic. An advantage in using cooperative strategy in the classroom is that students learn to collaborate with each other. Students can capitalize on one another’s resources and skills to achieve a goal. Teachers become facilitators rather than spoon feeding the lesson to the students.
Cooperative learning strategies are especially helpful for students who struggle in individual learning because they are able to get assistance from their group mates in a skill they find challenging, while being able to contribute through their strengths. |
